Amir,
The device wasn't moving as smoothly with the middle brake caster locked. Not sure how it's working now....

| That is the time frame for the change so the tech you spoke with may have not been aware of the change. Was there an issue with that device use?

Wait....I thought it should still has 3 locking casters on one side and 3 directional casters on the other. When I did a training in Nov at the facility with LG500, they too had 2 directional and 1 locking casters on one side - so I called tech support and I was told that it shouldn't be....
I am confused. Is there an updated picture on this?

There was a change in that caster. Originally all three casters were directional lock so that they theoretically performed in the manner you expected - e.g., a slight bias on the wheels that are not directionally locked allows the the treadmill to go backward off the treadmill without binding with the sides of the treadmill. The thinking was that the 6th wheel on the directional side had to be perfect in all ways in order to hold in the exact direction of the other two directional casters in order not to give resistance to the movement when being pushed backward. Since tolerances on the caster manufacturing and installation has to be taken into account, we thought that even if that one caster rotates the wrong way toward the treadmill due to the extra width, the casters will not reach the treadmill. So I am surprised that you had the problem with a 500E around a GaitKeeper. However, if the treadmill was not ours and much wider or if the unit was a 500ES then it is likely the inwardly rotating casters will reach the treadmill.
The fix for the facility if indeed they have a larger treadmill is to send them a casters to swap with their total lock one.

Hi,
Maybe it's just me, but recently I encountered a tricky problem with the casters on an LG500E. Along one sige, the LG has 3 locking casters that swivel when unlocked, which work fine. Along the other side the LG has 2 steering casters, whch roll without swiveling when locked, but one (the one in the middle) caster that is a regular locking caster.
The problem I had with this is moving the LG on and off the treadmill. I am able to swivel the locking casters on one side away from the treadmill so they don't get caught, or scrape, and the steering wheels on the other side prevent those casters from getting stuck. But the locking caster in the middle of the steering side gave me trouble. It kept getting stuck on the treadmill. It wasn't huge, usually I could just give it a little tug or two, but was not a very smooth operation, and was more difficult for therapists that don't have experience moving the LG.
Any tips to resolve this? Can the middle locking caster be replaced with a steering one?
Thanks!
