Gabby,
I have tried a few times to contact the facility to offer some assistance, but I have never received a response. The leg straps can be a good alternative to the groin strap for some patients, but I think a better fit can be achieved with the groin strap. "Tight enough" is a bit subjective, so we always remind the user to use the "two finger tightness test" for the side straps--if they can slip two fingers between the strap and the body, the strap needs to be tightened. Also, if they use two hands to do the tightening, one to push the slack forward toward the buckle and the other to pull the strap tight, this will give a better result.

If the harness is snug enough, the groin strap won't really be loaded- it is just a secondary restraint to stop the harness from riding up. Make sure the clips are not contacting the juncture of the leg & pelvis- if the edge of the clip cuts in, adjust the contact location. Make sure the groin piece is centered front to back.

Hi, the key is a properly fitted wrap.  The groin straps should be not be tight like the wrap straps,, I too had the same problem until, Amir came and did a training session w/ us whereby he showed us the correct way to donn the wrap.  If need be use towels around the waist line for comfort and to create a cylindrical shape (especially for women w/ pear shape bodies) and tightened those wrap straps good and snug.  The patient will be properly supported w/ just them.. I've even left the groin straps off on some of my ortho male pt's who previously had complained of groin discomfort.

Best Wishes

Maria:)

Hi! I just did a training where all the patients we put in the Lite Gait System complained of severe groin pain. The facility has had the device for months and they say this has been their main problem. I have never had this much difficulty. The harness and groin strap appeared to be fitted correctly. I usually do not deal with patients in long term care who have cognitive impairments and contractures. Any advice for the facility? I did recommend they try the leg straps.
