| I would like some more information before weighing in on this: what equipment specifically did he use in 2001? How much time did he actually spend in the equipment doing training? What type of training, specifically, did he do (describe in as much detail as you can, e.g. "he was suspended over a treadmill, and the therapist helped him to bear weight on the leg he broke by pressing downward each time his leg passed under him... he walked for 15 minutes at a time, at 2 miles/hour, once a day for 3 weeks)- this way I can get a picture of what was tried, and for how long. I would also like to know how he walked before his fracture, and how physically active he was. How did he fall and fracture his tibia? The more information you give me, the better a response I can give you. If you prefer to provide this information in private, I can give you my email address for a more specific exchange of information.

What would be best for my son, Derek, based on your experience or feedback, to enhance realistic physical therapy goals – at-home therapy or facility usage? (Med history: Derek is diagnosed autistic and cognitively challenged, with medically-controlled seizures and has suffered a tibia fracture in three places of his left leg in 2001.) He now has a Medicare-MediCal insurance coverage.
I seek rehabilitative services for my son, an adult autistic man. Derek has been tested with the use of equipment that is similar to the LiteGate (at Casa Colima Rehabilitation Center, Pomona, CA). His progress was not significant. So, they stopped therapy and Derek has not walked since 2001, when he fell and fractured his left tibula/fibula.
Please respond at your earliest. Thank you.
