| LG was double-booked - my fault!!! I put a harness on him so he could get an idea of how it felt and just worked in the parallel bars. I won't be in again until the end of next week but will keep you posted...

A scan has not been done. As far as I can tell, one was not indicated because he had no s&s ( he was very active, without complaints, and was even out clamming the day he had his stroke) and the chart said he was not a candidate for radiation anyway. This patient has no WB'ing or activity restrictions from the MD and there does not appear to be any concern regarding the integrity of his bones - but stage IV lung cancer makes you stop and think, doesn't it??
Amir made a good point that PWB may even be less harmful to the bones than overground walking for such a patient.
I'm going to cautiously give LG a try tomorrow!

| I would be concerned about bone mets in the spine, ribs, or LE's. If the physician said there are no bone mets, they must have done a scan right? I would watch for any signs of pain, but try it.

I have a question about the LG contraindications. I have a patient that has Stage IV Metastatic non-small cell lung CA. He has brain mets which are what are believed to have caused his hemmorrhagic CVA. The treating physiatrist reports that there are no bone mets - but looking at the chart he hasn't had any dx tests to confirm this, although he does not present with any s&s. Is the metastatic disease contraindication an absolute contraindication or only if the patient is known to have specifically bone metastisies?
