Darren Joffs' suggestion of using a shoe lift on the intact foot is very helpful.
I try to keep in mind that while the patinet has a NWB restriction, you are not trying to teach normal gait...You are teaching them to move around while their leg heals, and to maintain their WB'ing status. This is a different skill than normal gait, and therefore the set-up of LiteGait is completeley different. The patient must learn to use their upper extremities to support their weight, and so this must be the goal of the LiteGait training, initially, as well. So, use of a walker, handrails, or crutches is neccessary in this phase, in my opinion. Once they are PWB or WBAT, then you can start setting up the LiteGait to allow them a more normal pattern, with less UE weight bearing.
You can easily provide more support on the side of the WB restriction (for PWB clients) by making the straps on that side shorter, but if they are NON WB on one side, I would provide something (handrails/assistive device) to load the UEs during swing phase on the opposite side to truly adhere to NWB restrictions.
