The harness is designed to grab the hip & lower abdominal areas. The tightness of the harness imposes a rigidity around the hip joint, which helps to put the hip in neutral position. This prevents flexion. In sitting, the hip joint is in a fully flexed position so even a successful placement of the harness while sitting will result in a flexed hip position which is contraindicated for most neuro patients. We recommend that for the patients that are too involved, place them into a supine position. If you still need to apply the harness in sitting, the groin piece will be a problem. We do have a solution for this problem with Leg Abduction Straps to eliminate the groin piece and among other things, allow for successful application while sitting. There would still be application tips to make these work for you.
